Wet dust collectors and particulate control systems
Principles of Operation — Previous Page

The operational issues associated with a standard Venturi scrubber are pump failures, small orifice nozzle clogging, material failures, and general maintenance headaches. The Hydro-Lance™ scrubber system with SAVe technology avoids these issues while still providing the time proven Venturi collection methodology.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Duall engineers have developed SAVe (Sub-merged-Air-Venturi) Technology. Static pressure induced by an exhaust fan draws the sump water and dust laden air stream into an inverted Venturi throat. Turbulent mixing of dust and small droplets form an agglomerate which is returned to sump where water is reused and particulate matter settles out or is dissolved. Entrained mists and dusts are collected on a chevron blade mist eliminator. The collected dust forms a sludge at the conical bottom of the scrubber. Manual or automated sludge removal options are available.

PILOT SCRUBBING
In cases where particulate character, size and distribution are not clear, a 200 CFM pilot system is available for rent to prove efficiency of the Hydro-Lance™ scrubber prior to purchase. The pilot system rental costs may be applied to the purchase of a new Hydro-Lance™ scrubber. Contact Duall for details of rental options.

ENGINEERED SYSTEMS
Duall offers complete ventilation and dust control systems per ACGIH standards. Hydro-Lance™ systems can be designed with CIP "clean in place" options as well as with chemical feed controls for combined acid gas particulate collection. Unlike the fixed blade assemblies of other dust collectors, the Hydro-Lance™ venturi throat is externally removable for simple cleaning or replacement in erosive atmospheres. Complete electrical control and instrumentation packages are available at the customers request.

ENERGY USAGE
Hydro-Lance™ scrubbers are “energy savers”. No pumps are required. The system requires 8-10" wg. pressure drop. Operation of an exhaust fan is the only continuous energy cost.

MINIMAL WATER USAGE
The Hydro-Lance™ scrubber uses the least amount of water of any wet dust collector. Only evaporation and periodic sludge removal constitute water losses. A highly accurate level control system, accessible at the sump level is incorporated to automatically maintain the correct water level. The system is field adjustable for ease of start-up.
